Felt United: International Day of Felt- October 3, 2009


Felt - Intertwined, bound together, forever as one - United

FeltUnited. A not for profit group of felt artists with a vast ranging network reaching feltmakers across the planet through diverse associations, groups and guilds.

2009. The United Nations International Year of Natural Fibers.

October 3, 2009: The First Annual International Day of Felt.

Where : Across the Planet

What: An Amazing Array of Events, Among Them:
• a catwalk in Paris
• open artist studios
• decorated fences on rural farms
• demonstrations and school presentations
• a “Felt-in” outside the Tate Modern in London
• workshops teaching everything from elementary felt to expert
techniques
• installations at venues such as the Houston Center for
Contemporary Craft
• galleries exhibits worldwide
• happenings in public parks
• outdoor exhibits and markets
• decorated statues in cities around the planet


Including in Salida, Colorado, a guest apperance by contemporary felt artist PJ Bergin at fringe. At 10AM and again at 2PM, PJ Bergin will work with aspiring felt makers, creating felted bowls from hand-dyed wool roving. Photos of the best of these works will be submitted to the International Day of Felt Global Exhibition, hosted by FeltUnited.
